What We Do?

AMAZE exists to help and advise all those working with children and young people.

This means that we offer support and advice on youth and children's work issues such as insurance requirements, driving minibuses, health & safety, strategies for youth and children's work, setting up clubs and so on.

It also means that if you are part of an organisation that is considering the possibility of employing someone to work with young people and children AMAZE can provide advise and support through the whole recruitment process. If you are already an employer then AMAZE can help you develop both the work and the worker. We provide the following services:

Best Practice Manual (A4 Ring Binder/2 GB USB stick)

This Amaze manual continues to be a great source of guidance for those involved in youth and children’s work in an increasingly litigious environment. Last updated in May 2009, with 19 chapters covering topics such as health and safety, child protection, residentials and using IT this is a resource that many professionals continue to turn to. Includes forms, draft policies and letters to use.

Youth Work Employment Manual (A4 Ring Binder/2GB USB Stick)

In its 10th edition this manual is a must for those employing people in the church. Although it is focused on youth and children’s workers the guidance will be relevant to any church workers. The manual starts with the planning stage, helping to identify if employment is actually the right route to take and then goes from recruitment and selection through to redundancy with information and guidance on all the policies and procedures you should have in place. Includes forms, draft policies and letters to use.

Individual membership - £85 annually (£7.08 monthly)

Aimed at the individual youth work practitioner, whether paid or voluntary, an individual member will receive a free copy of the Best Practice Manual as well as access to resources online. This includes the most up to date manual itself and the forms and templates you will find useful in running your ministry.

You have access to our telephone and email helpline for queries about your employment or practical youth and children’s work issues, whether that is a simple question or to look over a policy you might adopt.

We will also advise you in any dispute with your employer, ultimately representing you at an employment tribunal* should that be unavoidable.

Group membership - £200 annually (£16.67 monthly)

This is ideal for a church, supporting up to 6 named people using our resources. Each will receive a separate log in for our website where they can access our most up to date resources on employment or best practice issues. Forms, template policies and information and guidance are all available including the most up to date Employment Manual and Best Practice Manual.

Each named person has access to our telephone and email helpline for queries about your employment or practical youth and children’s work issues, whether that is a simple question or to look over a policy you might adopt.

We will also advise you in any disputes with your staff, mediating where agreed.

Employer training - £300 per day excluding travel

We have a 2 day “off the shelf” course available. The first day looks at the context of work; from recruitment and selection through to contracts and the policies that should be in place. The second day is more about effective management of staff once in place.

Whilst the 2 day course is more thorough we can cut and paste if you have specific needs.

The cost for the course is £300 per day excluding travel expenses.

Children’s / youth worker training - £300 per day excluding travel

This 1 day session covers child protection, health and safety, working with volunteers etc. and can include other topics from our Best Practice Manual as well as less specialised topics such as time management.

Consultancy - £300 per day excluding travel

If you need support on specific matters that are in our area of expertise then we can provide on-site consultancy. This could be to coordinate a recruitment and selection process or advise and support a restructure for example.

As you might expect there are terms and conditions that apply. For further details or to order please call 0121 5029649 or email admin@amaze.org.uk.
